RINGWOOD'S Chris King produced an accomplished performance at the Windsor International three-day event in Berkshire, where he finished third in a world class field in one of two sections on offer.
King gained his place in the 'Castle' section, won by double Olympic gold medallist Blyth Tait, and finished one place above three times Olympic gold medallist Matt Ryan.
He performed consistently throughout on the 16.2hh bay gelding Sir Lancelot VI, lying third after the opening dressage test.
The pair then faced the testing 24 fence cross country course, part of the all influential speed and endurance phase and including two water combinations and a tricky uphill sized step and rail complex, that caught out several horses early in the course. Sir Lancelot flew round, coming home clear with just 2-4 time penalties.
And in the final show-jumping phase the pair also went clear to hold their bronze medal position.
Sir Lancelot is owned by David and Jane Tolley, with whom King has been based near Wantage for a while, although his family home is at Ringwood. He has been riding him for two years and has entered him in two three star events in the past but, as they did not prove too successful he decided to drop him back a level to the two star Windsor event.
King will be partnering his top horse Hinnegar in this week's three-day event at Bramham in Yorkshire.
The 15-year-old previously ridden by top New Zealander eventer Andrew Nicholson, who took him to third spot a the four star Burghley event back in 1998.
King made his Burghley debut last year with the horse, where they jumped clear cross-country but were pegged back by their dressage score.
