THE fun and games at the Party @ the Park event nearly ended in tears when a fight broke out in the beer tent.
The incident occurred around 6.15pm as the town's Golden Jubilee celebration, part of the BBC Music Live events, began to wrap up.
Police were called to the tent after reports of a fight involving a group of people.
As a result three people were arrested and were taken to Poole police station for public disorder and drunk and disorderly offences.
One male police officer received minor injuries during the incident but did not require hospital treatment.
Inspector John Hicks from Gravel Hill police station said the incident inside the tent had been fraught for a few minutes but was soon diffused.
He said it was the only trouble noted all day and added his thanks to a member of the public who stepped in to restrain one of the men while police officers made their way to the scene.
"The man actually helped one of the officers to restrain one of the people involved in the fight," he said. "We do not know who it was but we are very grateful to him for his assistance."
A spokesperson for the Borough of Poole said the disturbance was a minor incident that was dealt with by the police very quickly.
"It was an isolated incident that was something of a domestic," she said. "It was an unfortunate incident but it happened as the event was closing and it didn't spoil what was a fantastic day."
