Dorchester boss Mark Morris has decided not to pursue his interest in South Africa-born Stuart Brown for the time being.

The 23-year-old, who was Salisbury City's second highest goalscorer last season, has appeared in all four of the Magpies friendlies so far, but is not included in the side to meet Wessex League Bournemouth Poppies at Victoria Park tomorrow.

"He looks quite tidy, but I am not 100 per cent certain he is the type of player I am really looking for," said Morris today. "It would not be fair to the lad to keep stringing him along so I have explained the situation to him and he will probably go back and play for Salisbury this weekend."

Meanwhile the only trialist likely to appear in the Magpies' squad tomorrow is moving in the opposite direction.

Former AFC Bournemouth trainee Matt Tubbs appeared for Salisbury in their friendly against Stevenage Borough last Saturday and set up the late equaliser in a 2-2 draw.

On Tuesday, the 19-year-old who has spent the last two seasons at Bolton Wanderers' academy, made his debut for the Magpies and scored one of their goals in a 2-2 draw at Lymington and New Milton.

"He looked a good prospect," said Morris today. "But I would like to see him again before making any decisions and hopefully he will be in the squad tomorrow."

Victoria Park is the scene of one of Dorchester's biggest FA Cup disasters in recent years.

Two seasons ago they were dumped out of the competition there in the first qualifying round and Morris admitted:

"We were turned over good and proper. Tomorrow is a different kind of game and while the result doesn't matter we will be trying to carry on where we left off against Brentford. It's all about bedding things down for the season and so far I'm very satisfied."

* Dorchester Reserves have ex-Norwich City trainee Stuart Langrish in their squad when they travel up the Piddle Valley tomorrow to play Dorset League side Piddletrenthide.

Langrish, a left-sided defender, last appeared for the Magpies second team a couple of seasons ago and has since been playing professionally in the USA.

Dorchester Res: Cotterill, Gilbert, Lock, Bastafield, Christopher, Langrish, Dovell, Vincent, Critchell, Symes, Turner, Dronyk, Nash, Anderton, Whitehouse.
