A POOLE Pottery dish commemorating the Red Arrows' visit to Bournemouth on Friday is likely to attract much interest at a BIC charity lunch.
The sought-after one-off, inspired by an original painting by Colin van Geffen, will be among items auctioned for the Daily Echo-backed Julia's House Dorset Children's Hospice Service. The charity is about to launch a pilot service, sending nurses out into the community to provide much-needed care for children and support for their families.
Terry Trevett from the Bournemouth Red Arrows Association said: "The design on the plate epitomises a long standing link between Bournemouth and the Red Arrows.
"This year sees the 40th display in Bournemouth and we're delighted that Poole Pottery has produced such a unique memento of the occasion. Poole Pottery has a huge following of collectors so 100 smaller versions of this dish were produced. Most have already been snapped up, giving many others a striking memory of this great event."
Other items to go under the hammer will include a Red Arrows' flying suit, a dedicated painting and dinner and theatre tickets.
The RAF aerobatic team will zoom into town at noon for their spectacular display over Bournemouth Pier.
Organisers advise leaving plenty of time to find a good viewing spot.
The event is sponsored by cheaky.com and has been organised by the Bournemouth Red Arrows Association since 1995. The event has raised more than £56,000 for charities.
