DORSET-based fans are being offered the rare opportunity to play alongside one of the club's all time greats.
Saints legend Matt Le Tissier is bringing a celebrity team to take on a Portland United IX at Grove Corner next week and his midfield partner could be YOU.
The game, on Sunday August 17 (3pm), has been organised to raise money for three island youth projects - Portland Youth FC, Portland Red Triangle Youth Cricket Club and the Islanders Boys Club.
And as part of the fundraising efforts, a place in Le Tissier's all star line-up is up for grabs to the highest bidder.
Blues secretary Tony Greaves explained: "We're inviting bids for
a place in the team and I'm sure
we're going to have lots of offers. To play alongside a player like Matt is every Southampton supporter's dream and now they've got the chance.
"The highest bidder will be given a 20 minute run out at the end of the match and he or she will also get to keep the replica Saints team kit the players will wear on the day and we'll make sure it gets signed by Matt and all the other players."
Le Tissier's side is packed full of familiar faces with the best known being England World Cup winner, Alan Ball. Others include ex-Liverpool legend Jimmy Case and Terras fan's favourite Anni Ianonne.
Co-organiser and former Portland-based sports all-rounder Mark Caswell said: "It's promises to be a great day out and it's wonderful that all these people are prepared to give up their time to help boost sport on the island.
"Players like Matt Le Tissier and Alan Ball are living legends and it's a rare treat for football fans on Portland.
"The complete line-up has yet to be finalised but we're hoping a few other top names are available to take part."
Anyone wishing to bid for the place should contact Tony Greaves on 01305 860800.
