DORCHESTER boss Mark Morris says he's unlikely to sign a cover goalkeeper for the Avenue Stadium's number one Mark Ormerod on a contract.

Unless he or reserve team boss Phil Simkin can find someone capable of deputising in the Dr Martens Premier Division from local soccer, Morris will probably look to loan an experienced gloveman from a league club should the former Brighton goalkeeper be injured or suspended.

"So far no-one with the experience needed to step straight up into the Dr Martens Premier Division is keen to come here when they know Mark (Ormerod) is so consistent they could end up playing most of the season in the reserves," explained Morris.

"We are still looking, but I have also approached a couple of league clubs and they have assured me if the worse came to the worse and we did lose Mark Ormerod for any reason, we could loan someone to take his place."

Ormerod began last season with a two game suspension after being sent off in the previous season's Dorset Senior Cup Final against Weymouth and David Elm, who was later sold to neighbours Bashley, took his place.

Then Ormerod was an ever-present for the remainder of the season making a total of 49 consecutive appearances.
