PARK Engineering will continue to back the Terras for another season.

The Granby-based firm has agreed a shirt sponsorship deal, believed to worth in the region of £30,000.

The deal looked to be in jeopardy last week when company owners Dave Higson and Mick Archer resigned their positions as club directors.

Higson told Echosport: "Mick and I thought long and hard about what to do, but in the end we've decided to remain as the Terras main sponsors. But I stress we are doing this for the club and the fans, not for anyone else.

"We didn't want to let down supporters who have bought replica shirts with Park Engineering's name on them and we certainly didn't want to let the club down in any way.

"The deal has been struck on our terms and we look forward to a successful season."

Terras chairman Ian Ridley described Higson and Archer's decision as 'a wise one.'

He added: "I am delighted Park Engineering have decided to honour the agreement they made in May. They have done what is right for the football club irrespective of any politics and personalities involved. It's a wise decision and one made with the club at heart.

"Regardless of personalities, the football club comes first and Park Engineering have made a sound and sensible decision on that basis.

"I always wanted Park to be the first sponsors in Steve Claridge's reign as manager because they have endured some dark times with the club over the past eight years. They now deserve some success and they can sit back in the stand and watch their names being worn with pride."

He added: "Over the years there have been times when the club came within days of folding and would have done had it not been for cash injected by Park Engineering.

"In the same way we'll look back and pay tribute to the contribution of players like Alex Browne and David Laws, in a few years time we'll be saying a massive thank you to Dave, Mick and Park Engineering for their efforts off the park."
