MARK Ormerod admitted he is struggling to explain his poor form after making two more blunders in Dorchester's 3-2 defeat in a roller- coaster Dr Martens Premier Division game against Havant & Waterlooville last night.

"The first two goals were definitely down to me and if it wasn't for my mistakes I am sure we would have got at least a point," said the honest, former Brighton and Hove Albion gloveman who also made some great saves as his side battled back superbly from 2-0 down only to concede the winner.

"It is probably the first bad spell I have had since coming to Dorchester and I have to admit it is very frustrating," said Ormerod, winner of the division's Save Hands Award last season and voted the best non-League goalkeeper in the country the previous year.

"I did make a couple of good saves last night, but the nature of the position is that if you have a little bad spell it costs you goals and that is what people remember most. However I'm big enough to take the criticisms and it won't get to me.

"Their first one came through a couple of players and I didn't really see it until late. I got down to it and to be honest I thought I had saved it and then it's in the bottom corner.

"Their second was a shot from the edge of the box that swerved a bit, but I should have held it. Instead I pushed it out straight to their centre forward."

Ormerod said he had spoken to manager Mark Morris about his indifferent start and he had told him not to let it worry him.

"He's confident I'll soon put it behind me and I'm determined to look forward and not back," he said. "Fortunately everyone else is playing really well and in the second half last night we were on top in all departments. We deserved a point at the very least and I reckon we have proved in the first two games that we are capable of competing with anyone in this division."
