A DREAM has come true for a Weymouth schoolgirl who always wanted to be on TV.
Naomi Dodds, 15, from Wey Valley School, has won a place in the final of a major BBC national competition, beating people from the whole of the South West to represent the area.
She will be filmed in Weymouth singing Christina Aguilera's Beautiful, which will be broadcast on BBC2's Sunday morning children's show Smile.
Naomi has trained with Rachel Ross at Dance Fusion and internationally-renowned Weymouth singer Sophia Grech. She is also a member of the dance troop Here and Now and musical theatre Wow.
Naomi said: "I started singing and dancing quite early and I've always wanted to do TV and commercials.
"When I started my dance training I used to look up to the older pupils and watch them go away to London drama schools.
"Hopefully I will go away to a London dance school or theatre next year to progress my drama, dancing and singing."
International music producer and concert pianist Ian Garland from Weymouth put Naomi forward to the BBC, having worked with her for many years.
He said: "Naomi has that certain spark, that X-factor, which you so rarely find these days but makes an electric performance."
Filming will take place over the next few weeks and Naomi's two-minute film will be shown on a Sunday morning in September.
Naomi said: "It's a bit scary, but I'm not too nervous. "It won't be like performing in a theatre, where there are lots of people looking at you, it will just be me and the film crew."
Naomi can next be seen in Weymouth on October 17 as part of the Wey Valley international concert series.
