MARK Morris says he's fully behind goalkeeper Mark Ormerod despite his costly blunders in Dorchester's 3-2 defeat at Havant and Water-looville on Tuesday.

"In my book Mark's a top quality keeper and what happened at Havant hasn't changed that view," said Morris. "I am sure he will quickly put that behind him and he's just as likely to go to Cambridge tomorrow and win the game for us."

Ormerod admitted he probably cost the Magpies their chance of notching their first Dr Martens Premier Division win at Westleigh Park, but Morris said thoughts of dropping him for tomorrow's game never entered his head.

With new reserve team keepers Andy Graves and Les Elsworth as yet unproved, Morris said he would have looked to loan someone from a league club to take over from Ormerod if he was an average keeper who was struggling badly.

"But he is quality and I am sure he will get his game together," he said. " Every player has a spell when things don't go right and if you are a keeper it is magnified. Even goalkeepers like David James make mistakes and get crucified in the Press, but look how he came back and had a great game for England in mid-week. Hopefully Mark will do the same at Cambridge."

Morris' side have just one point from two impressive opening displays in the Premier Division and their boss admits it could easily have been six.

"We knew when we came up into this division it would not be easy and what we have found already is that you can't afford individual mistakes and you have to take your chances," said Morris.

"But our second half performance at Havant underlined the fact that we can compete with the best in the league. I don't think since I have been here I have seen a team dominate for 45 minutes like we did and that includes last season in the lower division.

"We could easily have scored six, so let's hope we have saved a few for tomorrow because a win would certainly take a little bit of pressure off and with two home games against Bath City on Monday and Chelmsford next Saturday we have the opportunity to put ourselves into a very healthy position."

With striker Matt Groves again ruled out with an ankle injury the Magpies will be unchanged for their visit to Milton Road which sees the first return to his former club of winger Matt Hann.
