BEN Thomson grabbed the solitary goal of the match for Lymington and New Milton, as they chalked up their second Sydenhams Wessex League win of the new campaign in a 1-0 victory at previously unbeaten Portland United.
The goal came in only the 17th minute of a match Linnets manager Ian Robinson was encouraged by.
"Portland worked very hard against us and you can see why they were unbeaten," said Robinson.
"But we played some decent football in patches and I still think there's alot more to come from my players. I was encouraged by the display and I thought we all worked hard."
The Linnets had plenty of chances to double their advantage, with Darren Curtis scoring a disallowed goal, followed up by striking the crossbar.
Paddy James and Kevin James were also unfortunate, finding their efforts coming back off the posts.
Linnets: Walker-Harris, Curtis, Sturmey, Sheppard, Knighton, S Kenna (Smith60), Shaw, Bailey, Thomson, P James, K James (Booker 75). Unused sub: W Kenna.
