A RESIDENT in a Bournemouth street had a lucky escape after a huge 100-year-old tree came crashing down just yards from his house.
Martin Huntman, of McKinley Road, was sitting in his home when he heard an almighty bang and looked out the window to discover that a towering pine tree had toppled over.
He said: "We heard this big bang and came out to discover this massive tree had completely blocked the road. It is lucky no one has been hurt."
Police officers remained at the scene as contractors removed the fallen tree.
The clear-up operation was arranged jointly by the Council and the management company responsible for the land the tree had been on.
