CASH totalling almost £1,500 has been handed out to worthy causes in the New Forest area.
Members of New Milton Town Council have delved deep into their grant aid coffers in response to a string of charity requests by organisations in and around the town.
The leading beneficiary was the New Milton Citizens' Advice Bureau, which received £500 towards the cost of upgrading its computers.
The Forest Forge Theatre Company, which brings drama workshops and community projects to the town, won £300 for its annual running costs, while the same amount was given to boost the inaugural New Milton Music Festival planned for March next year.
An additional £200 was allocated to fund volunteer expenses for the New Forest Victim Support Group, £100 towards the current Royal British Legion poppy appeal and £50 for the Winged Fellowship Trust, which provides holidays for disabled people and their carers.
