NEIL Young could be set to take his first step on the road to recovery after being named in the Cherries squad for today's Pontin's Holidays Combination clash against Cheltenham Town.
Young, who has been sidelined since the start of the season due to a nagging ankle injury, will travel to Whad-don Road where he may be given a brief run out against the Robins (2pm kick-off).
The 29-year-old defender told the Daily Echo last night: "I did some running for the first time today and, providing the ankle feels okay in the morning, I may play some part tomorrow.
"We will have to wait to see how it is, but even if I don't play, I will travel up there to do some work with the physio on the pitch before the game."
Should Young face the Robins and come through unscathed, he could be back in contention for a place in the Cherries squad for Saturday's trip to Wrexham, providing he is fit to train tomorrow.
And his inclusion would provide Sean O'Driscoll with a welcome boost as the Cherries boss is sweating on the fitness of defenders Warren Cummings and Jason Tindall ahead of the trip to north Wales.
Cummings and Tindall were both victims of rash late challenges by QPR striker Paul Furlong during Cherries' 1-0 defeat at Loftus Road on Saturday and missed the Bank Holiday Monday draw with Swindon.
Cummings, who sustained a badly bruised ankle, may be fit enough to resume training tomorrow (Aug 28), but Tindall is due to see a specialist today (Aug 27) and could be referred for a scan after taking a heavy blow to his knee.
