BOURNEMOUTH singer Alexander Clarke has been offered a part in a new Bollywood musical film by Indian-based film company Bombastic productions.
The 39-year-old entertainer - winner of the Echo Star Trail talent contest in 1994 - has had many brushes with fame over the years, but says this is the fulfilment of a long-held ambition.
The film offer came after Alex was spotted while performing his singing and comedy act at Weymouth Pavilion. With his trademark pineapple-top hairstyle, Alex was wowing the audience with his outlandish singing style and his comical stories and voices.
Then, of course, there was his signature tune "Zulu Warrior" during which he leaps into the audience.
Alex came to prominence when he appeared on Blind Date back in 1991. He also appeared on Barrymore and The Big Breakfast.
He still has a day-job - delivering for Next - but having acquired his first ever manager his diary is busy for the next 12 months with bookings including a summer season this year at Weymouth Pavilion.
The film starts shooting this autumn in England.
Alex, who lives at Talbot Park, said: "I'm really looking forward to making the film. Although my family are originally from the Caribbean I feel that this film will take me back to my ethnic roots."
