Portland United will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of big neighbours Weymouth when they travel to Wiltshire to play Highworth Town in the FA Cup preliminary round tomorrow (3pm).

The Terras beat the Hellenic League side 3-0 on their own Elm Rec turf in the competition two years ago although Blues boss Nick Preston admits he'd happily settle for the draw.

"We know plenty about them," he said. "David Laws and Andy Mason were both involved for Weymouth that day and I sent former physio Mole Harper up to watch them in their extra preliminary round win over Shortwood last week.

"By all accounts they are a strong, well organised team with a couple of quick lads up front and we'll definitely have our work cut out against them."

He added: "But this is a massive game for Portland. There's £1,000 on offer for the winner and then £7,500 if we go on and win in the next round. That sort of money can set a club like ours up for the season and that fact has not escaped the players.

"If we can go there and win then great, although I'd be happy to settle for a draw and bring them back to Grove Corner. Whatever happens we'll be giving it a right go."

The big disappointment for Preston is that he's unable to name his strongest side for the clash with four players ruled out through injury or unavailability.

Mason (knee ligaments), Darren Tizard (knee) and Alan Rodgers (back) have all failed fitness tests while skipper Dave Whalley is attending a wedding.

Preston added: "It's frustrating to have a few missing, but I'm confident we'll still be okay. We've got some big game players like Lawsy, Paul Myers and James Reeve and it's down to them and others to take responsibility.

"Obviously we'll miss the likes of Mase and Dave Whalley but it's a one off game with a big carrot dangling and we're going there with a positive attitude."

Blues: Myers, Bews, Wallis, J Dailey, Reader, Evans, Turrell, Perkins, Naylor, Laws, Reeve, Carter, L Dailey, George, Preston, Wisden.

* A number of seats are still available on the club's supporters' coach for the game, which leaves Grove Corner at 10.30am. For details contact Tony Greaves on 07796452510.
