BAD boy Stuart Cannie went out with a bang as his brace fired Wimborne to a FA Cup first round qualifying clash with Hellenic League Premier Division Fairford Town.
Cannie is banned for the next 35-days partly due to the fact he picked up an astonishing 21 bookings throughout the last campaign.
But if the maverick marksman is a referee's nightmare, opposition goalkeepers must be developing phobias about Cannie who struck twice in four second-half minutes to turn the tide on Elmore.
In a disappointing first-half performance, Paul Arnold's side failed to get out of the starting blocks as their Western League Premier Division hosts stamped their authority on the game.
Wimborne found themselves a goal in arrears at the break after a seemingly tame shot-cum-cross managed to worm its way past Stuart Kearn on 20 minutes.
But following a few choice words from the usually placid Arnold at the break, the Magpies took flight.
Cannie opened his account having neatly chested down a cross from the right and volleying home the equaliser before he flicked Wimborne ahead from Andy Jones' corner four minutes later.
Gareth Barnes put the result beyond doubt on 70 after he latched on to Marcus Oldbury's carefully measured throughball.
Arnold said: "We were well below par in the first-half but managed to turn it around after half-time. We upped the tempo and in the end it was fairly comfortable, we could have got six.
"Every manager wants a decent run in the FA Cup and I'm no different. It generates money for the club and it's about time we put a decent run together."
Wimborne: Kearn, Parkin, Powell, Roast, Smith, Sc Cannie (Barham, 85), Sturgess, Oldbury, Jones (Dipper, 75), St Cannie (Doyle, 72), Barnes. Unused subs: Moxham, Percival.
