HAMWORTHY REC 154 (4pts) lost to Dorchester 157-2 (25pts) by eight wickets A SEASON'S best opening stand of 114 between Ian Sibley and Jamie Acheson ensured Dorchester finished their NSA Premier Division season on a high away to already relegated Hamworthy Rec.

After their bowlers had started the job by whipping Rec out in 42 overs for a modest 154, Sibley and Acheson looked as though they might finish it on their own as they put up the hundred without loss in the 22nd over.

But Sibley was bowled by Mike Batten just after reaching his half century off 63 balls and Acheson finally went for 69 with Dorchester just ten runs behind the home side's total.

Skipper Tony Foot and Quinten Miller then saw the county town side to a comfortable, 35th over victory that brought them 25 points and lifted them above Stalbridge into a third-from-bottom

finish.

With Rob Waite on holiday, Foot went for a fresh, new ball attack of Mark Derrien and Justin Miller and Derrien responded by accounting for both openers in his second and fourth overs.

First he had Tim Wood lbw with the score on 11 and then he sent back Stewart Platts, caught by Dave Chubb, with only 21 on the board.

James Watts and Nigel Brooks repaired the damage with a painstaking stand of 35 before Pete Tucker came into the attack with immediate success when he had Brooks caught by Acheson for 16 off his fourth ball.

Tucker then broke another threatening stand between Watts and Neville Parry when he had the latter caught by Justin Miller with the score on 100 and

another bowling change ended Watts resistance 16 runs later when he was clean bowled in Matt Chalmers first over.

Tucker and Justin Miller helped winkle out the tailenders after Derrien came back to dismiss Tony Ward and then bowled last-man Cliff Moore to finish with 4 for 38.
