YOUNG Emily Scholes returned from Scotland with a gold medal, after riding for England in the Home International Show-jumping championships.
Up against Ireland, Scotland and Wales in the event, it was the English quartet who defeated all opposition to grab the title at Lanark racecourse.
Scholes, 10, the youngest girl in the England squad was unphased by the occasion was on form to take victory in the 128cm event. The youngster, pictured here with her rosette-winning pony Lizzie, is now set to compete regularly in international events.
Peter Scholes, Emily's father said: "Many of Emily's team-mates have sponsorship and with Emily having made the step up to national competition we are now looking for recognition and help with travel and stabling costs."
