WILDCATS fans will get the chance to see one of speedway's hottest young foreign imports in action at the Wessex Stadium tomorrow night.
Wimbledon GMB Dons' heat leader Joel Parsons is being tipped for a big future in the sport after being discovered by fellow Aussie Jason Crump.
Belle Vue Aces star Crump, who is currently lying fourth in the World Grand Prix Series, was impressed by what he saw down under and brought him over to race in the UK this summer.
Weymouth promoter Brian White said: "There's quite a connection between Joel Parsons and Jason Crump and I've got a feeling that they might even share a house. What I do know is that Jason obviously saw something very special in Joel's riding because he wouldn't have supported him if he hadn't.
"I've spoken to a few people who have seen Joel ride and they've all been very impressed by him. He's a lad with a growing reputation and I'm delighted we're getting competitors of his calibre down at the Wessex Stadium."
Joining Parsons in the GMB Dons' line-up will the experienced and popular Mark 'Buzz' Burrows.
White added: "Buzz has been scoring big points over many seasons and is one of speedway's real crowd-pleasers.
"He had a disappointing evening in Saturday's Conference League Riders' Championship at Rye House where he only finished one of his five heats, but he scored 15 for Wimbledon up at Mildenhall the other day and it will be interesting to see him up against our own skipper Justin Elkins."
Tomorrow's meeting is the first leg of the Trevor Hedge Racing Autumn Challenge Cup with the return at Plough Lane on Wednesday, September 24.
"Originally we should have been racing Swindon Sprockets tomorrow," explained White, "but they called off because of a league commitment. We'll now meet them here next Friday night, which is when we had been due to host Wimbledon."
