LINKS between Dorchester and Lubbecke will be furthered this weekend when members of male voice choirs from both towns join together for a special concert on Saturday night.
Members of the Lubbecke Mannergesangverien Male Voice Choir and their wives arrive in their twin town today for a four-day stay, the highlight of which will be the performance with the Casterbridge Male Voice Choir in St Mary's Church Dorchester at 7.30pm on Saturday.
Strengthen
Casterbridge choir spokesman Bevan Orchard said: "We will be singing some very sweet 19th century love songs and hymns, but what the German visitors will sing is still a secret!
"We like to do an exchange visit with the choir every two or three years and it is always great fun.
"The visits are also an excellent way to strengthen links between the two towns."
Members of the Lubbecke choir will be living with Casterbridge choir families during their stay and their itinerary includes a civic reception tonight, trip to Bath tomorrow and special church service at St Francis of Assisi Church at Littlemoor, Weymouth on Sunday. They return home on Monday.
The concert on Saturday night is free.
"We hope lots of people will come to support us and listen to us," Said Bevan. "I think it will be a very special night."
