LONGBREDY 14-year-old Tom Dewhurst won the youth C class in the latest round of the joint Bridport and Weymouth club trials championship on Sunday.
And there was a second place in the intermediate class for Shipton Gorge rider Jake Downton.
The event was run by the Weymouth and South Dorset Club at their long-established Hilfield (CORRECT) course.
Despite very dry conditions, the ultra-steep slopes still took many marks, the loose flints in the woodland sections proving particularly difficult.
Overall winner was Dorchester's Ray Samways, his 22-mark total giving him a 17-mark lead over second placed Roger Johns (Wareham).
Third place overall went to Street schoolboy Luke Palmer, who opted to ride the A route.
The intermediate class was won by another Street youngster, Tom Ashford.
A sizeable novice entry was headed by Kevin Mason of Poole, ahead of Yeovil's Mark Rodber. Best novice on the C route was Dan Biss (Sherborne).
Another Poole resident, Tony Lucas, won the veteran class from Lloyd Long (Wimborne), with Osmington's Charles Harrison in third place.
Ricky Wiggins of Yeovil won the youth B category from Portland lad Grant Laming.
The next round of the series will be held at Jackdaw Cliffs, Coombe Valley Road, near Weymouth, on Sunday, September 21.
