A RESIDENTS parking scheme in Lyme Regis has been officially proposed by the county council. Following requests from residents and with the support of the town council, the council is proposing to introduce the scheme in Anning Road, Kingsway and part of Queen's Walk. Letters have this week been sent to residents outlining the plans, which include introducing a one-hour waiting limit from 9am to 7pm, with an exemption for resident permit holders. In his letter, county council technical officer Brian Beldham said: "This will prevent the area being used as a car park by holiday makers and other persons wishing to park for long periods of time, but will allow time for short term visitors to the area." Residents have been told the scheme will only go ahead with their full support and have been given until early September to respond.
