LYME REGIS town mayor Barbara Austin is spear heading more attempts to secure a greater police pres ence in the resort. Coun Austin will raise her concerns with MP Oliver Letwin at the earliest possi ble opportunity after con tinuing complaints about poor coverage in the resort, particularly in recent times, including lifeboat week. Coun Austin said: "There have been several instances when there has been an urgent need for officers on the scene but on at least one occasion it has taken the police a couple of days to respond. "This is just not accept able, especially as such a high percentage of our rates and taxes are allocated to the police force and bearing in mind that Lyme is a sig nificant seaside resort which triples its population during the summer season. "We deserve better, not just in the summer but all the year round. "I am anxious not to be seen to be condemning Dorset Constabulary, how ever. It has listened to us in the past, is continuing to do so and is doing its best with the limited resources avail able
