BIG Steve Fletcher is pressing for his first start of the season in today's Coca-Cola League One clash against Bristol City. (Fitness First Stadium, August 14, 3pm kick-off.)
The popular Cherries striker rose from the bench to great effect in Tuesday's thrilling 2-2 draw with Walsall as Sean O'Driscoll's troops fought back from two goals down to pick up their first point of the campaign.
Fletcher has been struggling with a persistent knee problem since the back end of last season but could now be ready to take his place in the forward line from the start after causing Walsall so many problems with his physical presence in midweek.
Although the injury remains a concern, O'Driscoll may choose to gamble on the talismanic striker to give the side an aerial threat against a City side expected to be challenging for promotion at the end of the season.
Cherries assistant boss, Richard O'Kelly, believes the side can profit from Fletcher's attributes and use the full depth of striking talent at Dean Court for success this season.
O'Kelly has offered his assessment to the Daily Echo on the forwards at the club after his first few weeks in the job.
