WIMBORNE boss Paul Arnold was taking the positives out of his side's flat goalless draw at Moneyfields.
A revamped Magpies side failed to find the necessary cohesion to trouble their much-improved opponents and were forced to settle for a comfortable, but disappointing, point.
Shorn of seven of the squad that finished runners-up in the Wessex League last term, Arnold has been forced to shuffle his hand.
But even the presence of new boys Danny Woods and Stuart Cooper, both plying their trade in the Dr Martens league last season, could not help unlock the home side's defence.
But typically, Arnold refused to send the emergency flares up just yet.
He said: "It seemed to be one of those games when everyone was sussing each other out. We were a bit tentative and I'm just glad to have got it out of the way to be honest.
"They are a vastly-improved side and have a lot of new players but we kept a clean sheet and defended very well which was a big positive.
"We were always comfortable without creating too many chances and it's disappointing not to have taken all three points.
"It was scorching out there and hard to get a tempo going but that's not an excuse. It will take time to gel but I'm not unduly worried."
Gareth Barnes and Woods both forced smart stops from the Moneyfields goalkeeper in the first half, while Scott Arnold's powerful left-foot effort was the closest the Cuthbury club came in the second period.
Wimborne Town: Kearn, Phillipson-Masters, Plank, Roast, Atkins, Dipper, Arnold, Woods, Oldbury, Barnes, Cooper (Doyle 75). Unused subs: Briscoe, Clark.
