A MAN who proposed to his girlfriend on Weymouth's Town Bridge and then thanked her through the Echo has finally tied the knot.
James Quinn married his bride Jacky May in a ceremony at the Hotel Prince Regent.
For James, 35, a Company Sergeant Major in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, it was the day he had been waiting for.
He popped the question to stock controller Jacky, 43, on the Town Bridge after a romantic dinner back in February, then placed an advert in the Dorset Echo thanking his blushing bride for agreeing to his request.
The advert said: "Thank you for agreeing to marry me darling.
"You have changed my life from the first moment I met you."
James, who is originally from Ayrshire in Scotland, said the whole experience had been 'exhilarating' and had put a real smile on his face.
He was so sure that Jacky was going to accept when he proposed that he had her friends and family hiding around the corner with bottles of champagne, ready to rush out the moment she agreed to become Mrs Quinn.
He said: "I love Jacky very much, and that's what life's all about."
