A FOUR-year-old twin from Weymouth has appealed for the safe return of her beloved toy cat.
Tabitha Collins, who lives at Lodmoor, lost her soft toy Gertie at the town library while there with twin sister Jemimah.
The girls left their favourite toys on a chair while they were choosing books and when they returned Gertie was gone.
Now she has pinned up a letter, written for her by her mum Vanessa Collins, at the library asking for help in finding Gertie.
Mrs Collins said: "Tabitha is not eating or sleeping.
"She doesn't want to go out or do anything without Gertie.
"It is a really battered toy so we hope that it hasn't been put in the bin.
"Tabitha has had it since she was about six weeks old and it goes every-where with her."
Tabitha lost her favourite toy when visiting the library in Great George Street on August 12.
Tabitha said in the letter: "Daddy bought me another cat.
"She is nice and I will give her to the little boy or girl who took Gertie.
"Please help me.
"I am only four and going to big girls' school in September.
"I really need Gertie to look after me."
* Anyone who finds the toy is urged to call Mrs Collins on 01305 770230.
