MORE than 600 people attended the first Broadoak Country Fair at Denhay Farm in aid of Symondsbury parish churches.
There was a wide variety of things to do, with clay pigeon shooting, archery, line dancing, children's sports and lots of sideshows.
Amanda Streatfeild of Denhay Farms said: "The aim was for people to enjoy themselves, as well as to raise money."
The prize draw was successful, with big attractions being a course by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall at his River Cottage centre, a midweek break for two given by Ann Barnes, and a week in a French cottage donated by John and Audrey Creed.
She added: "We hope to have raised over £2,500 and it was a 'golden' opportunity to say thank you to our retiring rector, Ray Shorthouse, and his wife Sylvia who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the weekend too."
