THE DORSET firm at the centre of TV's Boss Swap has clinched a deal to manufacture 12,000 carrier bags for the Conservative Party Conference.

Decomatic's bags will be handed to all the delegates attending the Bournemouth conference running from October 4-7.

Decomatic MD Bryan Dion said: "This is a good size order for us and with the conference being in Bournemouth this year it is good to get some of the money spent on the conference into the local community."

Bryan and Decomatic hit TV screens in February when he traded places with PR guru Lee Peck from Hampshire-based Leepeckgreenfield on Channel 4's Boss Swap.

Now Decomatic is planning to sell its Wimborne factory and move to a nearby industrial estate in the New Year.

"We also have looked at ways of upgrading our manufacturing process with new equipment."

These were "two things that the TV show highlighted to us, and I guess we really knew all of the time but were a bit slow to implement change. The TV show was the proverbial kick up the backside."

Decomatic has also opened an office in Leamington Spa which it acquired through the purchase of another packaging company: "This now gives us some regional representation by allowing us to get a sales person in front of customers outside of the area quicker."

And what about that other little matter highlighted on Boss Swap? Bryan's lack of communication with employees? "The staff at Decomatic are still fantastic, and yes I do make an effort to speak to them on a daily basis!"
