GARETH Barnes and Stuart Cooper both bagged hat-tricks as new-look Wimborne demolished Hamble 7-0 at Cuthbury.
The Magpies lost eight key players over the summer but boss Paul Arnold has replaced them with quality additions to give his revamped side every chance of emulating last season's runners-up spot - or perhaps even going one better.
Although Arnold refused to get carried away by his side's first win of the season.
He said: "We needed that win - it was a good confidence-booster for us after the first two draws.
"We have a lot of new players in and they need time to gel, so we can't go shouting about where we'll finish this season.
"I'm confident we'll do well and Barnes and Cooper have the potential to become one of the best strike partnerships in the league."
Wimborne stormed into a 4-0 half-time lead as ex-Dorchester man Cooper grabbed a quick-fire treble.
His first strike oozed real class as he flashed home Ollie Phillipson-Masters' pinpoint cross and he failed to give the Hamble defence a breather as he struck twice more before the interval.
Barnes, meanwhile, was not to be outdone by his strike partner as he buried two from the penalty spot which sandwiched a close-range effort.
Scott Arnold completed the scoring in spectacular fashion as he waltzed past four defenders to slot past the beleagured Hamble goalkeeper.
The Magpies boss was suitably impressed by his team's display but admitted his men needed a kick-start after opening their campaign with two lacklustre draws.
He said: "The first couple of games we didn't really play well. We huffed and puffed but didn't create too much with the ball so it is nice to get a good win under our belt.
"We needed to get a result like this to kick start our season and we'll see if we can continue the form."
Wimborne: Kearn, Phillipson-Masters (Clark 60, Briscoe 70), Plank, Roast, Atkins, Dipper, Arnold, Woods, Oldbury, Barnes, Cooper (Doyle 75).
