ANIMATED dinosaurs, interactive displays and fossils and rocks dating back millions of years will be used to tell the story of the Jurassic Coast at Dorset County Museum.
Museum bosses at the Dorchester attraction hope to secure up to £350,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to breathe life in to its geology gallery.
Judy Lindsay, director to the museum, is in the middle of putting together the application for the bid and hopes to find out in March if the bid has been successful.
At a special meeting held last night to discuss the plans, she said she hoped that the new Jurassic Coast Gallery, as the display will be renamed, would appeal to everyone.
"We are trying really hard to create complete displays that will appeal to all," she said.
One of the main attractions she said would be two flying dinosaurs - one which would be animated and the other static.
Weymouth-based firm V and W Animatronics has already been lined up to supply the two life-sized creatures if the bid for lottery cash is a success.
As well as improved displays, the bid, if successful, will fund improved disabled access, including installing a lift.
