IT'S shaping up to be the big, bank holiday event for the conurbation with star music acts, fun activities, sports and side-shows galore lined-up at this year's free Echo-backed Poole Park Fest 04.
The man who sang the all-time classic sunshine song In The Summertime, Ray Dorset of Mungo Jerry, is headlining the music side of things at the two-day event in the park.
But he is only one of the attractions - another is Chinese martial arts Wutan Kung Fu/T'ai Chi.
Fans of the blockbuster Kill Bill movies are sure to be impressed on Monday as members of the Wutan Institute International will be demonstrating a variety of styles ranging from the preying mantis to T'ai Chi, empty hand and weapons sets including sword, broadsword and spear.
The Wutan display will take place at 3pm following an East Meets West cooking demonstration from Andy Chu and Edward Cox.
And to complete the oriental feel to the day there will be Chinese line dancing shortly around 1pm.
Fest 04 begins on Sunday at 11am, although it will be noon when the Mayor Cllr Les Burden arrives to officially set in motion two days that will include fun on the lake with "walking on water" hydrazorbs, dance workshops, balloons, sports workshops and live music from the likes of Secret Agency, Harry Skinner and Dave Saunders and The Bowie Experience.
The Friends of Poole Park have drawn together support from business and sporting clubs across the borough to help bring the park back into the heart of the community.
The festival runs from 11am to 7pm on Sunday August 29 and 11am until 5pm on Monday August 30.
There is no admission fee.
