CHERRIES striker Derek Holmes is vowing to silence his critics after becoming the latest victim of the Dean Court boo boys.

The unassuming Scot was singled out by sections of the home crowd during Cherries' 2-2 draw with Bristol City a fortnight ago.

And although Holmes admits he is aware of the criticism, the 25-year-old acknowledges the stick is "part and parcel of football" and says he is big enough to "take it on the chin".

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Echo, Holmes added: "I haven't heard anything myself, but my fiance Tracy has heard one or two people saying things. It's disappointing if some people are having a go, but they have a right to their own opinion. I don't know whether they are judging me against Big Fletch, but we are two totally different types of players.

"As long as the manager is happy with what I'm doing and he sees I'm giving my all then that's what counts. I give 100 per cent every time I play and try to do well for the team and I think I've been doing that."
