A COUPLE will celebrate their 67th wedding anniversary with a simple family meal.
Harry and Lillian Lawley said a quiet day with their family was in order after throwing a big bash to celebrate their 90th birthdays in June this year.
Lillian said: "We're taking our sons Denis, 64, and young Douglas, 61, out for lunch to celebrate.
"We already had relatives come from as far as Mallorca to see us in June."
The couple moved to Weymouth from Birming-ham nearly 60 years ago, at the end of the Second World War.
"I'm still not sure whether I'm a Brummie or a Dorset woman at heart," said Lillian. It's a lifetime to some people but we love it here. I think Weymouth has really improved, although I don't like some of the trouble that seems to go on in the town centre at night."
Harry and Lillian have lived at Jenner Court for the last 15 years and have four children and five great-grand children. Harry worked as a carpenter for W&J Tod of Weymouth.
He helped install fittings on the first fibreglass boats, when the firm began building prototype lifeboats.
During the war he worked in Birmingham as a fireman.
Lillian said: "We were subject to a lot of bombing raids and I was stuck on my own because Harry was fighting fires. We moved to Weymouth shortly afterwards to be with my mum.
