A DAZZLING finale to Weymouth's summer fireworks was witnessed by thousands of spectators.
The last of the Great Days of Summer weekly spectaculars yesterday brought the crowds out on to the Esplanade for live music and an explosive display from a boat in Weymouth Bay.
The winners of the £500 free draw sponsored by Alexandra Gardens were the Mortimer family from Woking, who are spending a 'brilliant' 10-night holiday at Sandyholme Holiday Park in Owermoigne.
Norman and Hazel Mortimer, and their children Lucy, eight, and Ella, six, were delighted with the cash win.
Mr Mortimer said: "It was a very big surprise and a wonderful end to the holiday.
"It was a last-minute entry. We just decided to come to the fireworks on the spur of the moment and entered the draw when we got here.
"We haven't decided what to do with the money yet but we will share it among the family."
The cash was presented by children's entertainer Captain Stupid and John Holland from Alexandra Gardens.
