BOURNEMOUTH Poppies came back from their 2-1 defeat at home to VT FC on Saturday to beat local rivals Christchurch 3-0 at Victoria Park.

And it was a result with which Poppies' manager Shaun Brooks was delighted.

"We thoroughly deserved it tonight," said Brooks. "We were on the back-foot for the opening 20 minutes and Christchurch played some nice football which is what you'd expect from them.

"But we told our lads to just sit a little bit deeper and not to get frustrated. We kept a good shape with the players we've got and we knew we would get chances throughout the game.

"We also knew that Christ-church aren't scoring a lot at the moment so we knew that they would get a bit frustrated the longer the game went on."

Christchurch enjoyed plenty of possession throughout the match but couldn't find the back of the Poppies' net and after 20 minutes the Victoria Park outfit opened their account with an own goal from John Wyatt.

Just before half time Alex Jones provided the final pass for Charlie Dibba to score against his old club for a two-goal interval lead.

Priory once again had most of the territorial play in the latter half but were unable to unlock their opponents.

And in the final minute of the game Charlie Dibba grabbed his second and Poppies third.

For Priory boss Pete Moore it was another result that has added to a poor start to the campaign but maybe just a little bit of luck is all they need to kick-start their season.

Moore said: "We just don't look like scoring at the moment.

"The way we're playing they're going to either get me the sack or I will walk away and tell them to stick it.

"They were the worst team we've played against this season and we've lost 3-0."
