A BRAVE teenage trio who saved the life of a pensioner trapped in mudflats have been honoured for their courage by the mayor of Poole.
Cllr Les Burden presented Hamworthy 13-year-olds Sam Shiner, Matthew Pepper and Noel Creech with badges and certificates for their bravery.
"This was a wonderful act of selflessness from these lads," said the mayor.
"By working together, they helped to save someone at a critical time and in a situation that could have been much worse and I want to thank them.
"They are an example of the many young people in our town who we can be very proud of."
In July, the Daily Echo reported how the teenagers spotted the 88-year-old waving for help as they were out on their boat in Lychett Bay. The lads struggled for over an hour in order to pull the man to safety, despite being in danger of sinking themselves.
