CHERRIES loan star Eddie Howe says he would "jump at the chance" to extend his stay into a second month.

Howe's first month is due to come to an end following Cherries' trip to Brentford on Saturday (September 4).

But his parent club Portsmouth have already given Cherries the green light to keep the former Dean Court favourite.

Howe told the Daily Echo: "Sean spoke to me after the Luton game and asked my feelings about whether I would like to stay.

"I didn't hesitate and said I would be delighted to stay for another month.

"I've really enjoyed coming back and it's been great. We've had some decent results and some good performances. I've also played games which is what I needed."

Howe, who made two brief appearances in two years for Pompey due to a serious knee injury, has played five games since returning to the club last month.

He added: "If somebody had said to me at the end of last season that I would play two games in three days this season, I would have said I've got no chance.

"But I've learned to manage my knee much better this season.

"It's feeling a lot better now and it seems to be improving with every game.

"It's standing up to the rigours of second division football and I haven't been thinking about it which is the acid test.

"If you're not thinking about the injury and just concentrating on your football, then there's no better feeling.

"I think the month has gone really well and hopefully next month will as well."
