TWO sisters were killed in a horror crash early today.
They died after their car crashed into a tree on Portland shortly after midnight
Emergency services rushed to the accident scene near the Esso garage on Easton Lane but found the 21-year-old driver and her 15-year-old sister - both believed to be from Portland - were already dead.
Police say the driver of the silver Ford Fiesta appeared to have left the road for some reason and smashed into a tree.
They added that the sisters' family have been notified and were being comforted by relatives today.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them immediately.
They specifically want to trace two male pedestrians who may have moved road signs along Easton Lane just before the accident occurred.
Police believe they may be able to help with their investigation.
They also want to hear from people who may have witnessed the crash and anyone who saw the Fiesta being driven before the accident.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "This appears to have been a tragic accident but we are keen to speak to the two men who were seen in Easton Lane shortly before the accident happened. Anyone with information is asked to contact us immediately."
A spokesman for Dorset Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a report of a car colliding with a tree near the Esso garage on Easton Lane at about 12.10am.
"Two persons were trapped in the car. When the crew arrived on the scene both were found to be deceased."
Anyone with information should call PC Paul Bishop on 01305 222500.
