WEYMOUTH will be seeing double with the launch of a new club for twins and their parents.
Weymouth Area Multiples (WAM) is the brainchild of full-time mum Emma Mordue, who lives in the Woodpeckers in Littlemoor with two-year-old non-identical twins, Eve and Rei, and husband Keith.
Mrs Mordue, 25, is inspired by the success of the twins club in Dorchester and is trying to emulate the achievement.
She is being helped by friends Karen Matthews and Gael Webber, who are both mothers of twins in Weymouth, and midwives from Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.
Mrs Mordue said: "I contacted the Twins and Multiple Births Association and found out there were no support or fun groups in Weymouth, so I set up one by myself.
"Karen and Gael think it is a brilliant idea to support people in the Weymouth area who have or are expecting twins or multiples. Being parents of twins ourselves, we understand the pleasures and pressures and we hope WAM will be a place where joys can be shared and questions and fears can be answered.
"It can also be a place where the children can play and mums and dads can have a well-earned cup of tea."
Mrs Mordue said twins were not double trouble but double delight.
She said: "It puts different strains on people in different ways. I managed to breastfeed both my twins at the same time for 18 months, but you probably would need an extra hand with triplets. Keith and I were so surprised and happy to find out I was carrying twins. But some people find the costs a real struggle."
WAM members will meet every other Friday between 10am-noon from September 17 in St Aldhem's Church Hall in Spa Road, Radipole.
A health visitor will give advice every month and there are plans to invite speakers, organise social trips and ante-natal classes.
If you are interested in joining, turn up on the day or contact Emma Mordue on 01305 814931, or email: wam@nattyem.demon.co.uk
