BROCKENHURST achieved probably the result of the day in their terrific FA Cup preliminary round victory at Burgess Hill.
The Badgers won the game by the odd goal in three but, it could well have been a much higher gap between the two sides, such was the impressive performance from the side from Grigg Lane.
And Brock boss Graham Kemp, who was wearing the biggest grin on the south coast all the way back from Sussex couldn't praise his team's efforts enough.
"It was an unbelievable result really, when you think we had four or five of what I would call regular first team players out," said Kemp.
"We prepared properly, they've taken us for granted and I think they paid the price.
"It wasn't a lucky 2-1 win. Even their manager thought we could have been 3-0 up by half time.
"They had a couple of half chances in the match but all the best chances came from us."
On a hot day in difficult playing conditions Brock took the lead after 15 minutes.
An excellent move starting at the back, ended when Dan Marks delivered a great ball into the box for Jason Lovell to side foot home for 1-0.
That's the way it stayed in the opening period but, it didn't take long after the second half began for Brock to double their lead. Lovell this time turning provider, as he nodded the ball down for Lee Winsall to strike a vicious left foot half-volley from fully 30 yards which practically wripped the back of the net.
It was probably just reward that Winsall should in effect grab the winner, having shown his loyalty to the club on the morning of the match, signing a one year contract for the New Foresters.
Leo Day reduced the deficit with 14 minutes left for the home side but, the result was never in much doubt even in the dying minutes, as Brock stood firm to book another trip, this time to play VCD Athletic on September 18 in the first qualifying round.
Brock: Brunnschweiler, Barrett, Morris, G Kemp, Hillyer, White, N.Kemp, Drew (Midgley 65), Lovell, Winsall, Marks (Risdon 70). Unused subs: Potter, Carlo, Hubberfield.
