OAKMEADIANS and Wimborne got their Powergen South West Division Two East programmes off to a winning start, reports Phil Chard.
But there was a shock opening day reverse for Swanage and Wareham.
Oakmeadians, starting their second season in the division, beat Salisbury 38-20 at Meyrick Park in a local derby, while Wimborne were 39-17 victors over Ivel Barbarians at Leigh Park.
Swans, already knocked out of the Powergen Cup by Bridgwater and Albion, went down 24-13 against Chippenham at Bestwall.
Bournemouth began their Southern Counties South campaign with a resounding 36-5 home victory over newly promoted Bradford-on-Avon.
North Dorset beat Redingensians 31-14, Sherborne routed Minety 70-10 at home and Dorchester lost 18-11 at Trowbridge.
