SINGING sensation Timothy Mason is £1,000 richer after impressing judges at one of Weymouth's biggest talent contests.
The 18-year-old from Buxton Road, Weymouth gave stunning renditions of two Cole Porter standards to carry off the top prize at the grand final of the resort's Wednesday Night Live.
Timothy, who sang The Lady is a Tramp and Night and Day, was picked ahead of nine other acts at the Pavilion Theatre on Friday, September 3.
Competition judge Janet Stockley, who is chairman of Weymouth's WOW Youth Musical Theatre, said the performances had all been of an incredibly high standard.
She said: "Timothy had a great voice and picked two great songs - he certainly captured the audience.
"You could tell everyone at the Pavilion enjoyed his performance.
"But to think that we have all this talent in the local area is very pleasing indeed."
Fellow judge and borough council Deputy Mayor Les Ames added: "It was a fantastic evening and the standard was really high."
