A MOTHER has spoken of her shock after a car crashed into her flat against her twin girls' bedroom.
Kate Warden, of Lawrence Court in Malmesbury Park Road, Bournemouth, said it was a miracle neither her nor her two five-year-old daughters were in the flat.
A white Renault Clio crashed into the block at around 4.40am on Saturday September 4, causing the walls to partially collapse.
All the residents of the Western Challenge Housing Association block have since been told that it has been deemed unsafe by an engineer and they will have to be rehoused.
The driver of the Clio was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and is currently helping police with their inquiries.
Kate said: "My twin girls' bunk beds back onto the exact spot the car hit. It's terrifying to think what could have happened if they had been there. It's not just the physical injuries they would have had, but also the mental trauma.
"I was at my mother's last night and got a phone call from my neighbour in the morning telling me a car had gone through the twins' bedroom.
"I was just in total shock when I saw it. I've never experienced physical shock like that before but my mind just could not cope with what it was seeing.
"I'm absolutely devastated - this is my home."
Another resident came home from holiday on Saturday morning to find she was not allowed to enter her flat.
She said: "It looks like a bomb has gone off, it's absolutely incredible. I don't know where I am going to stay or what I am going to do now."
Dorset Police confirmed they attended the scene after receiving several calls from residents and are currently investigating the incident.
