CATCH him while you can. West Dorset-based abstract painter Brian Rice once went 16 years between solo exhibitions.
Happily, you can find a fascinating collection of new works on paper at Bournemouth University's Atrium Gallery until September 25.
And it has to be said that Rice, who is inspired by archaeology - prehistoric rock engravings are a current source of interest - has been a little less shy and retiring in recent years.
There was a huge retrospective exhibition of his paintings and prints at the University of Brighton in 2001 which toured to Bridport and Plymouth.
Then there was a solo show in Cork Street and a show of large paintings in Somerset in 2003.
Rice's work is in collections around the world including those of The Tate Gallery and the V&A Museum.
