PARKSTONE are seeking their first double for 18 years after a convincing 10-5 win over Blackmoor in the final of the Beckford Bowl at Broadstone.

They now take on Brokenhurst Manor in the final of the Brockenhurst Stag at Ferndown on Sunday week.

"It would be a fitting finale to achieve our first double since 1988," said David Talbot, the team captain and Dorset county player who is stepping down after five years of captaincy.

Parkstone beat Sherborne, Stoneham and Broadstone on their way to the final. They lost their last Beckford final to Stoneham three years ago.

The key to this success was the foursomes. Talbot said: "At one stage

We could have found ourselves 4-1 down and facing an almost impossible task in the singles."

But the pairings of Nick Hill and Dan Smith and Talbot and Vince Joyce both won the last two holes for spectacular 1 up wins and Parkstone lunched with a 3-2 lead.

Josh Simons eagled the par-five first extra hole to win on the 19th to give his team an early boost in the singles. Talbot made an eagle at the first that dispirited his opponent so much he went on to lose 7 and 6.

Talbot said: "It was as great result for us but there is always a fine line between success and failure and the foursomes tilted the match our way."

Foursomes: David Cook/Josh Simons lost 3/2, Rhys Francis/Lee Booth won 3/2, Dan Smith/Nick Hill won 19th, Max Wilson/Matt Leeks lost 1 down, David Talbot/Vince Joyce won 1 up.

Singles: Cook won 3/2, Simons won 19th, Smith lost 3/2, Booth won 19th, Francis lost 3/2, Talbot won 7/6, Joyce won 5/4, Hill won 2/1, Leeks and Wilson halved.
