YEAH, yeah, no! When Ella Davies spotted a photograph of herself among a group of screaming fans at a 1963 Beatles' concert she thought something was amiss.

Because she could not recall ever seeing the Fab Four - and she had always been more of a Rolling Stones fan anyway.

But there, apparently, was the photographic evidence for all the world to see proudly displayed at the Beatles Story exhibition in Liverpool.

It was Ella's husband John who first spotted the young Ella in the photograph - and as the couple examined the screaming crowd scene, a group of Chinese tourists chimed in: "That's you."

Ella is in no doubt it is her. She said: "It's me, unless I've got a double. And I know the girl who is in front of me in the picture."

Now Ella is trying to solve the mystery.

"In 1963 I would only have been 12," said Ella, of Lower Parkstone, who worked as a shepherdess in Scotland before moving to London in the mid-1960s where she worked as an au pair.

One possible explanation is that the photo was taken at one of the London clubs Ella visited.

Because of a curfew she could not stop out late, so it is possible the photo was taken at a venue where The Beatles played later in the evening after she had gone home.

"I saw a lot of bands but never anyone really big, and we weren't allowed out late. I went to clubs around Kensington High Street

"Maybe The Beatles played at one of those clubs later in the evening."

Coincidentally, the first record Ella bought was The Beatles' She Loves You, which was released in 1963, but she always considered herself a Rolling Stones fan.

In 1968 she had a brush with rock and roll legend Jimi Hendrix when she made him breakfast after an artist friend brought him to the apartments where she worked as an au pair.

The Echo was unable to get a comment from The Beatles Story exhibition.
