Jackie Glengarrick and her children Ashleigh, eight, Aidan, seven and Olivia-Louise, four, dressed up to collect money for Bincombe Valley Primary School in Weymouth after a fire caused £500,000 damage to the school.

Jackie said: "I saw the school while it was burning and the kids had a look the next day, when the damage had been done. They were very upset and they wanted to do something to help.

"We wanted to do a street collection but there are so many forms involved so we asked if we could do it at Asda. The children have even given up their pocket money for the past couple of weeks to save up for the school.

"All the kids round that area get up and look forward to going to school. With the breakfast club and all the after-school activities they spend so much time there."

Jackie added that the money was a goodbye present from the children as the family is due to move out of the area. Jackie and her children spent the day collecting from shoppers at Asda in Weymouth.

Ashleigh dressed as Cinderella, while her brother Aidan was a Thunderbird and Olivia-Louise was a Barbie Princess.
