THERE must be something in the compost!
Maureen and Douglas Smith thought they were going quackers when they found this duck-shaped tomato growing in their greenhouse.
It seems there are weird-shaped tomatoes sprouting up all over the county, including one resembling a rabbit, which was grown by Chris and Basil Messer from West Lulworth.
If only Esther Rantzen's That's Life show with its category for weird and wacky vegetables was still around.
Mr and Mrs Smith, from Wimborne, wondered whether to turn the fantastic duck-shaped fruit into a salad or perhaps sail it down the river along with the rubber ducks in the annual Wimborne in Bloom duck race on the River Allen.
Mrs Smith, a retired health care assistant at the Lewis Manning Hospice, took the tomato along to the patients there and said it brought a smile to their faces.
She said: "When it was growing my husband said 'Come and have a look at this duck we've got'. We've watched it grow from a baby chick to this duck."
And Mrs Messer has given her bunny-shaped tomato to the friend that gave her the tomato plant.
She said: "I didn't realise it had grown funny until I picked it off the plant. It's one of those strange things - it may be down to extremes of temperature and when I remembered to water it or not because I'm not the best gardener.
"We had a good giggle about the shape it ended up. It came out looking like a rabbit so we drew a face on it."
